In Nigeria we have chicken pepper soup (though you can actually make it without chillies) and it is the remedy for post-birth, colds, flu, fevers…and just plain hungry. It is made with a combination of spices, which give a bit of heat! Lovely ‘quick version’!

Sigh… I adore Maurice Sendak. So many happy childhood memories. And I have many happy memories of cold days and warm soup! A good reminder for me to make a big pot of soup this week.
