It’s never to early to master the food processor. Dylan is three and in-charge in the kitchen and potato pancakes are on the menu.
Dylan’s dad is my son Noah and together they made dinner for the ladies, mom Rachel and sister Ella. Here’s how they did it:
Potato Pancakes
Dylan washed five potatoes until they were amazingly clean. With the help of his dad, the potatoes were cut into chunks small enough to fit in the feed tube of the food processor. They also peeled one medium onion and cut it into feed tube size chunks.
With Dylan in control, the potatoes and onion were finely chopped and then combined with one egg, two tablespoons of flour, a teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of freshly ground pepper.
Noah was in charge of the cooking. He fried the potato pancakes in vegetable oil on a hot griddle. Rachel and Ella returned from their ”ladys’ afternoon out” and were delighted that the men had a dinner of crispy potato pancakes topped with a choice of sour cream, apple sauce or catsup waiting for them.

Aww, what a culinary master in the making! It’s so good to see people encouraging their kids to really get involved in cooking at an early age. The closer they are to the food they eat, the more ownership and pride they’ll take in their meals!
He is super cute, if I do say so myself!
And, the pancakes were delicious!
